Re: Role of the hips in the swing.

Hi Jack.
What I have in my own mind, stumbled upon in the past few days is the realization, at least my realization, is that it appears Jack, that the swing begins later than I had thought. What I mean, is that, a batter can keep the bat head on the outside of the shoulder during what we refer to as swing launch.`What I'm gettin at Jack, is that in film I've watched many times, the bat can remain on the outside of the shoulder or, at least very close. But, the lag position doesn't begin until the left shoulder for a left handed batter, is perpendicular to home plate. What it appears that I see, is that the hips open but, the shoulders, arms and, bat, almost turn as ONE unit to perpendicular to home plate. Then, lag begins and, slight upward swing is initiated.
Make any sense?
