To feel confident with my analysis and advice, I need to see 3 or 4 swings from two different views (frontal from the pitcher’s mound and a cross view of home plate). Also, you cannot see fine details with these small frames. I will say that from what I can see in these clips, my evaluation of his swing would be similar to yours. However, the emphasis of my recommendations would be different.

As he practices more efficient upper-body mechanics, the mind will then provide a lower-body program to accommodate those mechanics.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the initial thoughts. I filmed some swings tonight and hopefully it's sufficient. If not, let me know.

I can see what Alan means about "not enough loading of the upper body". On the last swing, he doesn't hide his hands one bit.

I showed him this tonight and he immediately picked up on the flopped-open front foot during his stride. When I showed him his lack of upper body loading, he saw what I meant too.

Frustrating thing is that when I do heavy bag or dry swing drills w/ him, he strides w/ his front foot closed and loads his upper body much better/more. When he gets a pitch, you can see what he does. "Ball anxiety"? Just so focused on putting the bat on the ball that he zones out? Or just too young to expect this level of concentration? Or... just more patience needed by the Dad? <;-)

Appreciate your help guys,
Sandman
