Re: Foul Balls at third

John:

Your son has an extremely quick bat. My son has a very quick bat as well and also pulls to the left. In my sons case he is a nano second ahead of the ball. I believe he will work this out in due time as he matures. Sometimes people think that everything requires an immediate fix. Your son is hitting great! If you feel the need to have him keep the ball in play one thing he can do is change his stance ever so slightly (read up on opening or closing your batting stance). However, don't have him do anything that makes him uncomfortable or too self concious. Sometimes a simple opening or closing of the stance with a very minor adjustment will do the trick. We are only talking about a couple of inches. However, my best advice is that he will work it out and that it is more of a timing issue. Your son has excellent reflexes and a quick bat give some time to work itself out. Don't mess with success.
