That's a really interesting item. I saw Paul's comment on that too--that he can swing almost as fast 1 handed as 2.

Where does the 70% come from--experience? I don't disagree though. I've always felt that if you hold the bat too loose during the actual swing it causes weak hits.

The correct thing is to stay with a somewhat loose grip until the swing starts--then firm it up. But I've heard some advocate a loose grip through the entire swing.

I think there is a resistance factor right at the point of contact when the ball is flattened out against the bat.

If there is not enough resistance (firm grip) it may cause the bat to in essence--rebound a little.
