linear vs. Rotational-is the difference the knob of the bat?

Posted by: KML (rolltr@yahoo.com) on Tue Mar 22 21:30:45 2005

Bought your DVD and have read Epstiens site but not bought the DVD. Only so much money I have.

I coach 7-8 yr olds in coach pitch level. I work on bat and hand placement and I really work the twisting of the hips, but I really know nothing about THT and pushing the knob of the bat towards the ball. Someone mentioned that not pushing the knob of the bat was 'lazy' hiting and was dragging the bat through the zone.

I was just wondering if I was missing something in roational hitting and that perhaps there still is the 'knob to the ball' movement..but then I read a reply by Jack to a tee-ball question that said to concentrate on the bat head rather than the knob through the zone.

My son is pretty good on the Front foot heel up, hands back, loading up, hip rotation..may not have the front foot starting the rotation, but he's kind of getting it.

In short, if trying to teaching rotational, do I teach knob to the ball?

Thanks,
Kevin
