Re: Plate & Stance
In general Pam, when a batter is in their knee flexed stance at the plate, they need to make sure they can cover the entire plate with the bat during a swing on a GOOD pitch (a strike). I have my kids get in what they feel to be a good plate coverage stance and, while in their knee flexed stance, have them eextend the bat across the plate BUT, with their back elbow tucked relatively close to their side. In another words, the arms are not extended at contact, they're slightly bent, due to the back elbow staying close to the body during the point of contact. There's so much that could be discussed, just based on your question. But, I think it's a good starting point.
How long have you coached?
Look forward to hearing back from you.
John.
