One of the consequences of the "knob to the ball" method of teaching hitting, which probably 80+% of softball coaches teach, is that it makes it easy to drop the hands at the same time they are throwing the knob. With rotational hitting it is easier to keep the hands up because you are encourageing them to keep the hands at the back shoulder during the swing thus keeping hands high. Do some practice swings with the bat right against the shoulder and don't move the bat until the shoulders have started to rotate, this will keep the hands high. Once this becomes comfortable then start with the hands in the normal position but try to keep that same feeling of hands at the shoulder.
