Re: Re: How to hit a rise ball??

A rise ball is seldom thrown for a strike. It is a chase pitch. We teach our girls to let a rise ball go. First we teach them to see the rotation. If the pitcher has a rise ball, it is usually thrown with a "chase count", that is two strikes and two or less balls. This is similar to not swinging at a changeup unless you have two strikes. The best hitters are the ones who work the pitcher to get the pitch they want.
