Re: Bat length
I actually swing my 34 inch faster than a 33 or 32. It's a longer lever. Using the speed check radar, I can get a 34/31 Akadema extension to go 10% faster than a 32. Of course, when I was playing, I needed the lighter bat because "hands to the ball, snap the barrel" mechanics dictated I needed a light bat. With proper mechanics, I can use the added leverage to my advantage.
In my research with the HS and College bats out there, the longer bats like 33's and 34's simply add length to the handle. This actually hurts the balance point and makes the bat much harder to swing as fast as the 32's. Why are so many hitters swinging the 33's and 34's? I dont see the logic. The 32's seem to be long enough to reach the outside pitch just fine, without sacraficing bat speed. Any comments? Thanks...
