Scott,

What coaches mean by keeping your hands inside the ball is throw the knob of the bat to the inside portion of the ball. This is not a good thing, especially for rotational hitting. Your hands always stay inside the ball when you hit. If they didn't, the batter would be getting hit when he would swing the bat. Just focus on keeping your hands close to the body and stay rotational.
