Anyways, the short version, what your saying sounds fine to me. I think Jack is jumping the gun a little with being worried about transfer mechanics. After all he is suffering from bat lag and not pushing mechanics.

Hi Shawn

You might be right about the bug. I lost some of my post as well. I think I know what the problem is and have sent a message to our Webmaster. The program has an all-new database and we may experience other problems for a while.

Shawn, maybe we have different definitions for “bat lag.” My definition of bat lag is when the hips and shoulders have completed rotation, but the bat has not accelerated to contact. Good transfer mechanics will keep the bat head accelerating in sync with rotation and the bat will be brought to contact as shoulder rotation is completed.

I have seen video clips of many hitters with lower-body mechanics that generate good hip and shoulder rotation, but left the bat-head lagging. The body rotating around a stationary axis is the primary energy for the swing. However, as I have pointed out many times, “Of what use is a 1000 hp engine -- if the transmission slips.”
