What other forces are being applied besides shoulder rotation? Do the arms deliberatly move the bat in this direction, perpendicular to the line of flight? <<<

Hi Hitter

I think what you are referring to is when I say, “shoulder rotation should cause the first movement of the hands to be perpendicular to the line of flight of the ball.” Therefore, during initiation the bat could be accelerated fairly perpendicular to the flight of the ball.

You stated, “Do the arms deliberatly move the bat in this direction?” – It is not the arms. The hands are deliberately flung in that direction by shoulder rotation.
