Graylon, re pop, it's not a long explanation, nor should it be.
For some reason, folks feel the need to make more out of something than need be. Your stating in your "short version", "that it is torque of upper and lower body," was perfect. I mean we could be here for another life time, dissecting what every body part is doing throughout the process of hitting a baseball! In all due respect, and I admire everyones passion but,and again ,I'll quote Jack ;"information overload." For the sake of conversation and, I know a lot of us in here coach but,even if I found the truth so to speak regarding what ACTUALLY happens anatomically speaking, I'm sure as heck not gonna give any kid an explanation that resembles the splitting of an atom!
It's been said that hitting a baseball is all physics and, all physical movement must be “equal and opposite." IMO that equates to PULL/PUSH.
