Like most kids, it's a mental thing. My own son hasn't got it down yet either.Certain hitting aides help different kids in different ways.
Go to you tube and, type in "frozen ropes." Look for a Manny Ramirez video, he's wearing a red,shirt.It really shows how comfortable and, relaxed he is hitting, really shows the straightening of the leg. The bottom line, is that when that front heel hits down, that front leg has to start blocking out, which allows the front hip to begin rotating around towards the catcher.
