I watched a little league game the other night, major division. One team had a flame thrower. The batters he was facing couldn't hit him. They were LATE on everything. The balls they just happened to hit, were slight ticked foul balls, straight back.Why? Because they weren;t quick enough. Plain and simple.Trying to get a kids to focus on what part of the ball to hit, I feel is in act in futility.
The bat needs to make contact with the pitch at the same trajectory. As Jack likes to say; "if the batter is a little early, he'll hit a ground ball with some good top spin, if he hits it dead center, a good line drive or, gap shot, if contact is made slightly lower, bye, bye, baseball." But, if he's real late with the swing, he's gonna make very little contact or, probably no contact.
