I posted an earlier response to opposite field hitting in April. It may be buried in the archives. Try thinking about contact and reflection angles. The only true way (that is even physically possible) to hit a ball to the opposite field is to create the angle with your bat in relation to the angle that the ball is coming in at. Look up the Law of Reflection and then look at the incoming pitch angle. You should see that the only way to create that angle is to make contact a little later in your swing. I didn't say anything about 'throwing your hands' or 'leaning to the opposite field'. Just like one of the other posters said, don't change the mechanics of your swing; just change the location where you make contact. You need to understand the angles first before you can put it into action. Once you understand it, doing it becomes much easier.
