Don't know about hickory and birch but you can order maple bats in the length/weight/balance/barrel-handle style you prefer directly from Old Hickory and X-bat. Generally takes a few weeks to get the order filled. Old Hickory also sells x-out at a reasonable price. The x-outs are good for practice and use at the batting cage. Don't want to pay $100+ for a bat and break it at the cage.
