Re: Re: Re: ! arm swings Jack?
>>> Tom I agree with your assessment of best swing, jack what would be wrist torque with 1 hand, could it be at the bht phase ,say the top part of the hand pushing 1 way and the bottom part of hand pulling back.I believe my swing unlike the kids is being done both 1 and 2 handed with rotational mechanics. <<<
Hi Rql
Torque applied by the wrist is induced from the adducting and abducting (cock and un-cocking) of the wrist during a one-handed swing. Placing both hands on the bat restricts wrist movement, and torque is then mainly applied to the handle from a push/pull action of the forearms. Normally, far more torque can be applied from the push/pull action of the arms than can be generated from the adducting and abducting of a wrist.
Just an added observation I have made working with hitters.
It is quite noticeable how placing the second hand on the bat changes the dynamics of the swing. I noted that in their launch positions, most batters become appreciatively more tense and ridged in the arms and shoulders with both hands on the bat than with one-handed swings. This not only complicates their efforts to develop a CHP, it also restricts the bat’s acceleration that would normally occur from Torque and a CHP. – There seems to be something mental that triggers tenseness in the two-handed swing.
