Tom,
I don't like any of your definitions of the launch position. You, like the first post, are talking about points in the swing or initiation. While there might be something happening in the launch position it's the point right before they turn into ball. There might be a change of direction happening, weigh shift, etc., but the weight is still back, coiled, in the launch position.
I agree with the second post the elbow is up.
