Major league hitters know that Jeter has difficulty getting around on inside heat. That's why he gets plunked more than most. However he is still athletic enough to get around on mediocre fastballs and mistakes.


As he starts losing his batspeed his hitting will drop off more than hitters with mechanics that many of us consider preferable. The inside pitches he now inside-outs to right will slowly begin to be foul balls and handle shots.
