Re: WHY DO I TOP THE BALL? HELP

Posted by: Rich () on Mon Aug 16 20:20:27 2004

I PREVIOUSLY HIT LINE DRIVES, BUT NOW ALL I DO IS TOP THE BALL, ESPECIALLY DOWN 3B BUT, 1B IS MORE OF A LINE DRIVE. I BAT RH. GOOD BAT LOCATION HITTING HARD BUT NO ALTITUDE. HELP PLEASE.

Hey Eddie,

Without seeing film i'm guessing that your lead arm elbow is dropping as you are lowering your rear elbow into the slot. this will cause(among other things) the bat head to travel thru the strike zone too parallel to the ground. as the rear elbow lowers and the rear forearm rotates to horizontal the front elbow should be working up a little in order to keep the bat on PLANE with the front upper arm.(see my explanation below)

Being on PLANE at launch and thru out the swing is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL!

Look in the mirror(face it) and check your plane. get on plane then worrry about tht and bht, etc. regards, Rich
