Re: Hands inside the ball

You sure lit a fire over on that board... That Dave guy is pretty pissed. I find it rather humerous though, how it is "his way or the high way"... Did you see the picture up in the left hand corner of his page? What a joke... Anyone who hits with their hands that far out in front of their body and the bathead trailing as much as it was trailing the hands is just asking for trouble...

If I may....
From some of the persons that I have worked with, "hands inside the ball" always refered to the inside out swing mechanics. Hitting the ball from the middle in, but, over the years have learned that this is nothing more than a statement used to (poorly) describe not allowing the swing to get too long and wind up outside the ball. So many I have come across have "loopy" swings and not good hand paths to the ball... And not many can actually grasp/understand what proper use of the hands can do to help aleviate some of these easily fixable problems...

Anyways.... Just my two cents...

jack...recently someone inquired at hitting.com as to what the term "hands inside the ball" meant....i responded that generally those who advocate this concept also advocate "knob straight to the ball", "hands straight to the ball", etc....i pointed out that the correct hand path is circular....i also rhetorically asked how one could NOT have their hands inside the ball (unless they were extremely casting)....otherwise they risked collision of the hands with the ball itself!!!!....for several days no one else commented.....then this morning i noticed that my post was deleted and replaced with this comment by dave huggens himself......he said "The term "staying inside the ball" refers to the path the hands take to the ball. The goal is to keep the barrel of the bat on the contact plane as long as possible.".......i would appreciate your comments as to the meaning of "hands inside the ball".....respectfully, grc......
