Yes. I believe the grip you are using is best. I am from the old school and teach the Lau hitting theories of the tension free swing. The white knuckle grip is a clear indicator of tension. Anything you employ that creates tension reduces fluid control and, in my opinion, you don't want that in your swing. Hitters that had very little tension were George Brett and Don Mattingly. Very focused hitters...very little tension. They took the bat head directly to the ball. When you have tension, you lose fine muscle skills. I would compare it to golf. If Tiger firmed up his grip, how much control would he lose? It is no different with hitting. Also, when you have problems hitting or throwing, I have always taught my players to hit or throw from the other side. You have to think about it. Once you have tried it several times from the other side, go back to your normal swing/ throw. You will likely find that your mind will have corrected (albeit temporarily) some of your mechanical problems.
