Re: starting young

I have just begun caoching a group of girls who will be a 10u softball team next year. I would like to start these girls on a voyage to become rotational hitters.(I have an older daughter who pitches in college and can see what type of hitter gets the most hits off her).
> Where should I start? I have Jack's DVD but at this age these girls seem to only be able to focus on about one thing at a time. I'd like any advice on what the "baby steps"(almost literally) are to teaching rotational mechanics.

Besides continuing to look at this site I would suggest looking at any video of Ken Griffey Jr. He has probably the most natural rotational swing of any hitter. If you have the opportunity, check out his first couple of homerun contests. ESPN carries many of these highlights as well as games. Also view ESPN's matches between team USA and other top teams. Pay particular attention to the homerun hitters. These women appear to have the same rotational mechanic applications that the baseball players use that are successful. Good Luck. Jim Thome is another good rotational player to watch hit.
