Great site, but quick questions...we use the big muscles in the legs and hips and shoulders to swing the bat...A) do we rotate one before the other (Rotate hips before shoulders) or do we rotate them all at the same time...B)how do we get our legs (not hips) into the swing or are they linked...C) when rotating our hips do we try to pull the front hip around to the catcher and push the back hip to the pitcher or do we do something else (same question for the shoulders)and D) is the inward turn promoting THT or is it THT?
We stride then rotate the back hip in unison with the shoulders. We get our front leg into the swing by stepping toward the pitcher after we have brought our hands back to the launch position. (see Charlie Lau's the Art of Hitting .300 video for an illustration) We only rotate the back hip. The front foot stays planted after the initial stride. The inward turn helps the hitter shift his weight back while the hitter is recognizing the incoming pitch. THT is produced by the hitter cocking his wrists backward as he brings them back to the launch position and whipping the bat through the strike zone.
