Re: Questions for Jack or anyone else

What's the difference between pure rotational mechanics, and transfer rotational mechanics (bonds v. palmeiro)?...
> Also, THT is created by the pulling back of the top hand to create an arc back toward the catcher, but my question is if you hit with your elbow up, if you drive your elbow into the "slot" then the bathead arcs toward the catcher...is this THT or should it be an addition to the top hand pulling back?...
> also, the hips and shoulders rotate to initiate the swing and the hands are basically on auto pilot (besides THT) and the rotation of the hips and shoulders pull the bat through while the hands have little to do with the swing (besides THT and BHT)? So the adage, "throw your hands," or "trust your hands" are basically a moot point when rotational mechanics are applied? Is BHT created naturally through the rotation process or does that have to be applied like THT?

> I apologize for the lenghtiness of this but I am having a difficult time understanding the basic concepts through all of the rotational and physics jargon...I thought I was getting to understand it, but after reading some posts by Shawn and Jack about transfer rotaional mechanics and other posts, I have read myself into confusion!!

.>>Jersey,I have my ideas of the swing which may be in the minority at times but I think the rear elbow slotting is what drives the top hand back as well as the bat head.I also feel the hands have alot to do with the swing and the control of the bat while the engine to generate speed in the bat is the body. The bottom hand is important during tht because as it pulls forward and down toward the ball as the lead shoulder turns it counterbalances the knob that well want to go up too much as the rear elbow pulls the bathead down.I feel the fact that they are both doing opposites is what creates the torque but also the balance to bring the bat into the correct swing plane.
I dont promote "throw your hands" anymore but I do think the hands are in charge. The hand eye coordination idea is important and the eyes show the brain what to do with the hands but the importance of efficient mechanics of the body is the slave to get the hands where they want to be at the right time.I believe weak hands well create bat drag through the zone because of less torque and create less control.
