I would caution you on practicing leading with the elbow. Your top hand hand is getting away from the body and you have created a turning wheel with the elbow ahead of the hands.

If you look at the clip I posted the hands remain in close to the body, at the arm pit. The back elbow drives the top hand forward while keeping the hands inside the ball.

The way it's being done in the drill with one hand isn't the best way to practice the top hand. You must watch that the elbow doesn't lead or come inbetween the body and the top hand (turning wheel) to early in the swing. The one handed drill is meant to teach the back elbow and top hand relationship.
