Jack,
For one thing Brett never hit .396, his highest average ever was .388. I hope you pay more attention to details in your swing analysis than you do quoting stats. But most importantly, Brett is universally known as the quintessential linear hitter. He is Charlie Lau's most prized student, and a strong advocate of the weight shift technique.

Anyone without freakish talents will sacrifice at least 50 batting average points and add significant strikeouts if they are to take up rotational hitting. You conveniently omit this important disclaimer.
