Re: Bat on shoulder is not a good idea

i read on a web site that leaving the bat on the shoulder enables you to generate the most power. It said that by doing this you use every part of your body during the swing. I had the website written down somewhere, but i have misplaced it. if i find it then i will post it on here.

Leaving the bat on the shoulder is not a good idea. With the bat on the shoulders the muscles of the hands, arm and back are relaxed. To start the swing relaxed muscles need to be “flexed” before anything can move. This adds time to the swing and causes a “lunge” type of swing . Muscles should be flexed and ready to go.

This is why you see most hitters moving the bat around while waiting for the pitch. Another example is tennis players waiting to receive the serve. They bounce around. When the pitch is released or the tennis ball is struck their last move is to the “ready” position.
