I am looking for opinions.

The swing plane is rotated about an axis (spine) so it can be tilted in two dimensions and rotated around the axis in the third dimension. Typically the rotation about the axis isn't considered as the ball is basically coming from only one direction so we need to account for the tilt when looking from behind the plate (as described by teacherman) and also from the side of the plate (as described by dougdinger). Both are correct. - Tom Waz
