It would be my suggestion to try to lower your back elbow down and maybe try to keep your hands at the same level they are now. If you have your back elbow up, then to initiate your swing you need to drop it. When you do this the bat head follows and you get a loop that helps contribute to your popups. Try this(in practice)get your bat set where you normally do, and notice the placement of your back elbow. If it's horizontal or high, try to lower it. Make your forearm somewhat vertical. See how that affects your bats angle through the hitting zone, and what kind of response you get. I'd be interested in hearing how this turn out for you if you try it.
