Re: fingers vs. palm

University of Michigan coach told me to grip the bat in the palms for maximum batspeed. Ted Williams says on his website and book to grip using the fingers using an extremely firm grip, with the index finger slightly open. Jack you say to grip the bat extremely lightly which defies which The All-Time Great Ted Williams says. If find I get control and speed when I grip both hands slightly firm and in the top of the palms or base the the fingers. Which is better? My style , Ted Williams' Michigan's or do I need alotta help? And what's the point of the index finger slightly open?

Dear Ruben,
That is a decision you have to decide, but, if I were you, I would choose science and amelioration that allows one to hit the ball further consistently. Try all methods, and choose the one you are most comfortable with.
