Jack: does tht produce power?

Posted by: grc () on Tue May 18 07:48:54 2004

maybe there is a misconception that you think tht is a primary source of power....correct me if i am wrong, but this is what you are saying:

with proper load, top hand heads toward catcher (i'll save my bat cock thing for another day)....along with the high elbow, this facilitates the hands getting started in the circular hand path....assuming proper lower body mechanics, the hips start rotating (related to my bat cock thing but i will ignore that for right now)and THIS is the primary source of power.....

in other words, tht ENABLES chp which in turn ENABLES the hips to do what they are supposed to do...so tht. although not directly the primary source of power, is critical at the initial stages of the swing in setting up the rest of the swing...

after all, i am sure you would be the first to agree that if a hitter were to use tht, rotate the shoulders but make a conscious effort to limit hip rotation, he would not get very far....everything has to fall into place, and tht is just one (but an important one) element of the entire process...

at a later time i do have some specific questions for you that have never been answered, but i would like to hear from you first on this post.....hopefully by the time you respond this thread will not have alreadby been clogged up with a lot of garbage.....respectfully, bart....
