The question was about bat quickness, not bat speed.

"Quick" means different things to different people. To some, quick means quick reaction time, which of course has nothing to do with batspeed. To some, quick means getting from launch position to contact in the quickest, shortest amount of time. There are two ways to do this. One way is the Teacherman way, which is to flick the wrists/throw hands to the ball, a la linear mechanics. The other way to get from launch to contact in the quickest amount of time is batspeed, using rotational mechanics as taught by Jack. Now, although I recognize that many coaches use Teacherman's way, I think Jack's way (rotational) is better, and here's why. Let's say that using Teacherman's linear way will get you from launch to contact in .013 second, and let's say Jack's way (rotational)gets you to contact in the same amount of time, .013 second. Even though both methods took the same amount of time, here is the difference: Teacherman's way starts out "quicker" but by contact the bat is slowing down. Jack's way might start out at a slower pace, but by contact his swing has caught up with teacherman's swing, with Jack's bat still gaining (or at leat not losing) speed. Therefore, more power will be produced by Jack's ACCELERATING bat than will Teacherman's DECCELERATING bat.I hope this clears things up and let me know if it doesn't.
