Re: arm swing

My 11yo can rip the ball on one pitch and that is great. However once hit rips it a couple of times he will try to hit it harder and harder. When he does this his arms get to tense and to involved. how can i help him control his need to swing his arms so hard?

If it's B.P. have him step away for a while and come back. It could be he's eager to keep improving or it could actually be his arms are tightening up. Try to get him to focus on his mechanics and avoid focusing on "How far he hit the ball". When I see this happening to my kids I remind them to "drive with your legs" or "rotate your hips" taking the focus away from their arms. If he has just starting hitting well it might just take awhile to find his limits. - Tom Waz
