Atn: Jack: misinformation

Posted by: grc () on Wed Apr 14 07:45:02 2004

i know you don't need marketing advice from me but obviously you can choose not to post it if you don't want to (i hope you will post it)....

there are several "regulars" at this site, and we can debate top hand torque and all the other stuff until the cows come home.....i suppose that's good, on balance...if these discussions don't mean anything to others, i guess they mean something to some of us "regulars"...

but there are also newcomers who sometimes come with questions that might be trivial to the regulars but mean a lot to the newcomer...there comes a time when questions like dipping shoulders, hitting too many ground ball, etc should NOT be responded to with platitudes like "learn to hit rotational", "use the heavy bag", "send us a clip", etc....

newcomers are obviously not familiar with a lot of the things the "regulars" discuss, and these platitudes are not helpful to them....

i think that when these kind of "basic" questions are asked, YOU should jump in, especially if, after monitoring the responses you feel the newcomer's issues have not been properly addressed...

today's newcomers might be tomorrow's customer, but they will not return to the site if their issue is not addressed...if one or two people respond with some absurd notion that does not apply to the newcomer's concern, if no one jumps in to correct the record, the newcomer will assume that this is the best the site can do for them and will move on...

again, i don't think your screening of posts should be limited to screening out the rude posts...i think a more conscious effort should be made to screen out or at least correct the misinformation...

respectfully, grc....
