Re: Re: Hand dropping before swing

Place a ball on the batting tee and raise it until the ball is belly button high. You may have to use a batting tee on a chair. Make the player hold his hands at the top of the strike zone. Swing with a downward motion on the ball. Use this in part of your hitting drills. Find a wall or a tall fence. Place the players outside of his back foot against the wall. Go into his stance, hands on top of the strike zone and swing on a downward angle toward the ball and then follow thru with the swing finishing buy hitting you opposite shoulder. This prevents hands dropping as well as the back shoulder. make sure he does not shift all the weight on the front foot. The last one is to have the player face the fence and place the bat handle against his belly button, perpendicular to him and the wall. Get as close to the wall so he can hold the bat against the fence with his belly only. Feet are spread in an athletic stance with his arms straight out to the side. Now have him place his hands around the bat handle like he is batting. Raise the bat into his batting stance. Now try to swing in the same movement without hitting the wall. He must come thru the zone with the knob of the bat and then finish with the swing.
