Oh boy, I do understand where you’re coming from. Here's my advice. First of all, I’m no pro. I'm just a Dad who’s been studying the rotational swing. In fact, my 12 yr old son, who has been a linear nightmare, goes to the cages 5 to 6 times a week religiously; we also hit the bag before bed approximately 100 times, 4 times a week. (Our goal is to change his muscle memory) Ok, enough with my credentials (ha-ha)… I suggest lots of bag, lots of patients, study more on scap loading in order to get on plane, a hooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllle bunch of live pitching, and when you finally get to the point to where you don’t understand what’s missing or wrong, then it’s time to record your boy and have someone like Jack critique him. Believe me, your not alone, I truly and most sincerely understand what you’re going through. Hang in there and make sure your putting in the reps because if your not, then all the advice in the world wont help your son. You got to work for it.

Tony,

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's seen this. In the last few days, we've been focusing on live pitching so its funny you mention that. He seemed to be making contact much better when he backs off using THT and starting the bat in a lag position. Does that make sense? Its like we have to elongate the launch. Totally opposite of what most coaches will say. You know "Short swing thru the ball" kind of stuff. But since this week was his first game since fall, I was stuck somewhere between "should I panick?" and "let him work it out". I guess we'll work it out in BP. He seems to do better when I back off the technical critisism. So basically with the Spring break, I've told him to do what's comfortable to do without any kind of advise from me. The way I put it to him was that I showed him all kinds of ingredients, its up to him to figure out how to make the cake.

With regards to the whole scap load concept, Epstein is great for lower body mechanics, Mankin great for upper body and hand mechanics. Nyman however seems to not really be able to spoon feed as well as well as either Epstein or Jack. His site isn't user friendly IMO. Lots of digging there, but he does have his followers, so its probably worth the effort.

Ahhh back to the Ibuprofen, my arm's sore

Thanks for the reply

-Max
