My coach (D-1 in AZ) never heard of top hand torque scap load torque position etc.He also says in the circles he travels in Jack and Nyman are unknowns. Can you tell me where either of these guys findings have ever been published so that I can point it out to him? As of right now he thinks it's funny that I would even think about getting info on hitting from the internet.I know Epstein used to play but I don't know if he has a reputation either. Thank you.

Personally, I had a chance to analyze a vast amount of hitting material, and the two products that I would recommend are Mankin's and Epstein's. These two gurus complement each other very nicely philosophically. I suggest that you the products of both instructors.

Jerry,
While many will debate the teachings/findings of "internet" instructors like Mankin, Epstein, & Nyman, I know for a fact that all are VERY well known within the baseball coaches inner-circles. The problem with many HS and college coaches is simple...they do not understand what exactly takes place during the swing. They identify with what they were taught as youngsters growing up within a defined system of instruction. As such their teaching methods are at best antiquated, and open to interpretation. As we move foward in baseball, the (advanced) research technology used by the aforementioned parties can and will afford our kids information that we never had.

Anyway...listen to your coach, he'll help you with many facets of your game...but if you want to improve your swing, check into some of these sites, and do a little independant study of your own. Can't hurt.
Jeff M
