I personally think that it's not possible but after contact is a different story; but who cares, the ball is gone. Sure wish I could find a clip of Ichiro. From what I can see on TV, he just doesn't appear to be a point A to B swinger.

i have some clips and he is linear...and he has virtually no bat cock, holding bat near vertical at launch, which goes a long ways in explaining his linear swing...
