Our team just bought both. They are the same material but the "Air' has the internal air bladders which must add a slight amount of weight.

The platinum has the biggest drop 31/22.5

The air is 31/23

I also bought the air for my son mainly because I was hoping it would dent a little less with the counter pressure.

Both bats have kind of a textured finish.
