inside & chp direction

I'm confused over two area's of the rotational swing that has come up in some of the most recent posts. First, I thought that one of the big advantages of the rotational swing is that it allows you to crowd the plate and still hit the ball close to the sweet spot of the bat. Thus protecting the outside of the plate. But recent posts seem to indicate that isn't so since they talk about altering the swing for outside pitches. Please clarify.
My other problem is when talking about chp the description is that the tip of the bat goes back to the catcher. It seems to me when you incorporate a pre-shrug that the bat tip is actually being taken back to the 3rd base dugout. Where am I going wrong here?
