Many great hitters cock the bat quite a bit. However, I quickly found four great hitters who did not: Williams, Dimaggio, Musial and Ernie Banks. Following are clips of three of these players. All hit for power and average, with few strikeouts. Any thoughts on this? Nick

My thoughts are that every player is different. Don't waste your time trying to compare every hitter in search of the magic formula. Let me tell you, there isn't one. This isn't to say that there aren't constants in technique, but there are variations among all hitters. Whatever works for you works for you.
