Hi Nick

They are rotational. A linear hitter extends their hands at initiation producing a straighter hand-path and delay applying torque until later in the swing. The great hitters you mentioned all generate bat speed from a circular hand-path and apply torque (THT and BHT) from initiation to contact.

All the linear motion gained during their strides comes to rest before they initiate rotation around a stationary axis. A body at rest retains zero linear momentum to be converted into angular momentum. They are purely rotational during the swing.
