Re: Re: weight shift

We have brought up weight shift quite a bit but what I don't seem to see is when does it actually shift and at what moment in the swing.I think it can be different for different hitters. If a fb hitter just looks dead red he can shift harder and more on auto pilot for 1 speed, but any pitch speed deviance and he is done. For those that hit alot still on there own and I do think it well take some feel not just looking at clips to assess properly,I think this is one area where some head way can be made in hitting and how to teach getting to this point consistently in a balanced position can help many people.

The more weight that is shifted back the more that has to come forward and time is not on your side. I try to get our kids to start 40/60 and begin the stride by pushing the weight back with your front foot to 50/50. The key here is to not break down on the back side. To obtain this feel stride inward a few inches.

I agree with alot of what I here but I am trying to figure out a way of mass producing a system simple enough for the masses[I know good hitters will never be in the masses]to keep control of the weight and not lunge, not get past center until time to rotate.I felt this is what bagwell gets with his reverse stride as well as Luis gonzalez with his open stance that strides from out to in toward plate[has body in motion but hard to get past center when not going forward.
