Not proclaiming to be an expert, but as a coach who has watched the squish the bug with the back foot becomes a teaching tool, I think too much focus is on it. If the foot pivot promotes or triggers mechanics, I think too many hitters are flopping their front hip open doing so. I like to think of it as only a pivot point and less a dominate act in the mechanics. It’s how I coach it, but then I try to encourage opposite field hitting and hitting behind the runners. I am not saying I am right just observing results. Alaska coach with a short season looks for results sooner. Thanks coach Ken
