Re: Youth Bats: Which ones are REALLY the best ???

I learned my lesson early. When my son first started LL, I bought him the most expensive, top brand, top of the line, lightest bat possible. Darn piece of junk had more dents in it than my old car.

At age 7, I would get him the lightest weight possible at the lowest cost. 28/16 sounds great, you couldn't get lighter. 29 does sound too big for a 7 year old. My son is 10, very tall and uses a 30 inch bat, will probably go up to 31 this season. I bought my son brand new Worth bats on e-bay & paid no more than $20.00 -- gorgeous bats, -12, last year's model, but who cares. At his age, it has nothing to do with the bat, it has everything to do with the batter and his swing. I learned he can swing a $50 bat as well as a $180 bat. I wouldn't waste a lot of money on a bat for a 7 year old, the results won't be any different with a more expensive bat...just make sure its lightweight and good for Little League play or Tee-ball or he won't be able to use the bat during a game.
