Re: Youth Bats: Which ones are REALLY the best ???
CJ,
I'm not sure if you can use big barrel bats (BBB) or not I am assuming you can't and I would say that using them could be detrimental to a swing if overused anyway. (Wood bats and all that) They sure are fun though. Anyway, here are some suggestions in bats. I try to keep in mind that it's the "Indian not the Arrow".
I think my son is proof. He has a $69 dented, cracked, Nike bat and hits the cover off the ball (10yrs old). He has great mechanics and is, not big, but a little tall for his age. Don't get me wrong, a nice $125 - $250 bat can help but I would take a kid with great mechanics and a $69 bat over a kid with OK mechanics and a $250 bat. What about a kid w/great mech's and a $250 bat you say? I'd say then the field is still even.
I think a $69 bat would make the ball go just as far as a $250 bat. I guess I'm not sure how much you personally wanted to spend but at 7yr olds a LLB Tee-ball bat for $40 bucks is probably gonna do the trick. It's the Indian not the Arrow. Just my $.02.
Nike Hawk or El Loco $109 and $149
Louisville Air Gen1x or Omaha $169 or $134
Demarini ScandiumX or Venum $99 or $169
Worth Wicked Composite $169
Easton Zcore or Triple 7 both $139

I'm starting to do some research on which bat I should get for my son (7 yrs, 56 lbs, not very tall, but a swing speed of 80 mph with a 28/16.0.
