I was wondering about what kinds of weight shifts the body goes through while swinging a baseball bat. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you assume the position to launch the bat. It's easier said then done, but when rotation is just starting all forward momentum is converted into rotational momentum. I would even say some of this momentum goes backwards, but up through the body sounds better. Trying to convert momentum is tough to do. It's just on aspect of swinging a bat.
