I have found that if you clear the back foot or "get your heel pointed to the sky faster", it allows the hips to rotate farther with more force. Does anyone disagree?

Todd,
Do not disagree. Another way to describe this is to say that the rear knee drops to parallel. When this happens the rear knee moves in front of the hip socket andthe weight of the rear leg pulls the rear hip socket forward. At the same time the hips are rotating open then the front leg straightens through contact .

Barry Bonds gets the rear leg to parallel faster than anybody I have on tape. He also starts with it bent in too. This is not written about much but it is probably important. Kids that push forward with the rear leg extending it do not hit as well.

Tom Emanski in FL, loads , drops the rear leg to parallel, and then swings the bat. Using Emanskis' method, when the rear leg drops to parallel, there is nothing left that you can do but rotate. It doesn't work for me but I find it interesting Others can probably clarify better
